With the arrival of the 2014-2015 school year, we are pleased to welcome five new certified teachers to the Copper River School District. We’ve enjoyed getting to know them during inservices and the first days of school. This week’s Snippets gives us an opportunity to introduce them to you, our community:
Melissa Krimmel – GJSHS Special Education
Originally from Elizabethton, TN, Mrs. Krimmel has most recently worked for the Northern York County School District is Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. Known for her abundant patience, Mrs. Krimmel is looking forward to the challenge of her new role in the CRSD. Currently, while she is still working on her Masters Degree, Mrs. Krimmel will be working alongside our veteran special education staff.
Janice Hamilton – GJSHS English
As someone who loves to tell a good story, especially about her travels abroad, Janice integrates technology and questioning techniques to provide students with lively language arts instruction. Ms. Hamilton was born and raised in the beautiful farmland of Lancaster County Pennsylvania. Most recently, Ms. Hamilton worked in Unalakleet, AK, for the Bering Strait School District in the Technology Education Department.
Shawna Goodwin – K-6 Teacher/Counselor
Mrs. Goodwin was born and raised on a small farm in the Flint Hills of Kansas. She graduated from Friends University with a degree in Elementary Education and after 21 years as a classroom teacher, she received a degree from Wichita State University in Guidance Counseling. After working as counselor in a rural district, she and her husband relocated to Alaska where she joins the Glennallen staff. Mrs. Goodwin and her husband are looking forward to enjoying Alaska and making the Copper River Valley their home.
Jenny Moser – GES 2nd Grade
After growing up in Wisconsin, Ms. Moser attended college in Georgia where she earned a degree in Art, with a minor in Religion and Philosophy. She completed the Teacher Certification Program at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Arriving in the CRSD from teaching second and third grade in Kalskag, AK, Ms. Moser enjoyed exploring the Kuskokwim River area by boat and snow machine.
Josh Bullock – CRSD Technology Director
Mr. Bullock is everyone’s new best friend in the CRSD. Being the resident expert on technology means he is already in high demand as teachers are setting up their classrooms for the 2014-2015. Born in Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Bullock was raised in Butte, Montana. As a certified teacher in math and science, Mr. Bullock most recently worked in technology department in the Bering Strait School District and is looking forward to using his expertise in professional development to help equip teachers for effective use of technology in the classroom.
